Bobby Burns is a man with many ambitions. Ambitions that go like the red line through his life
hand in hand with (house) music. Besides dj-ing and producing he’s also busy with his company Hotkitchenoven (www.hotkitchenoven.com). Whether it has to do with audio or video he likes to take things to a higher level. Growing up he got inspired by his father and the love for music. Inspired by artists like Paul Simon, Michael Jackson (Off the wall / Thriller),Kool and the gang, Johnny Gill and the Black Flames. Following elementary music lessons and playing saxophone instument at the age of 10 years. Things he still benefits from nowadays in the studio. DJ: Music was his first love, when Bart Ruitenbeek a.k.a. Bartjay / Bobby Burns bought his first cassette at the age of 7. Mixing for starters with tapedecks, his fathers turntable and a two channel mixer. Playing his first gig at elementary school and making mixtapes for his friends was his business. At the age of 13 he sneaked with a little help from the bouncers at the door into a local club, where he sat down all saturdaynight at the bar writing down the tracklist the dj’s played. On mondays he bought the tracks from the tracklist and started experimenting on the mixes first thing he got home. At the age of 15 he organised his own parties, inviting dj’s from around the dutch music industry. During his collegeperiod he was invited playing as a resident dj in an Amsterdam club. More gigs followed but this time for larger venues. His reputation as a flawless mixer and crowd pleaser got word amongst the big promoters. Playin’ on Dancevalley 2000 / 2001 and ID&T’s Innercity 2000. International breakthrough on serious gigs during the Winter Music Conference 2001 in MIAMI – USA.
About Bobby:
Producer: In 2002 Bobby started to focus on workin’ in the studio, because of the lack of good records coming out in his style and taste. Learning the basic tricks from the men behind formation ‘Total Touch’, resulting in his first release ‘Charlie Parker’ on a small independent dutch label called Groovy-tunes. This tune got major support from dutch veteran dj’s Erick-E and Brian S. Alongside support from Sander Kleinenberg on the B-side of his second release ‘Warm up’.
Then Bobby Burns made his comeback to the scene with his first vocal release ever! With the track “From Holland” signed on the dutch label Samsobeats (owned by Sidney Samson & Gregor Salto). His selfmade videoclip became Superclip on the dutch MTV Networks and got high rotation on dutch national television and radio stations, resulting in the # 1 spots of dutch dance charts and # 17 in the national popular chart. “From Holland” was defined by the press as the summerhit of 2007!
His dj schedule made overtime in the Netherlands and touring countries like Spain, Greece, Italy, and Turkey.
Recordlabel: And now he’s bringing his own recordlabel to the lights, Hotkitchenoven music. Named after his own cross-media company, which already has been notorious for the (music)promo videos for artist such as HouseQuake, Fedde Le Grand, Flamingo recordings, Sidney Samson and Toolroom Knights.
You might expect releases of himself and collaborations with artists: Afrojack, Albert Harvey, Mike Laveaux, Tony Cha Cha and dj Melly Mel.
